Buffy from the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer is
taught her slaying skills by Merrick Jamison-Smythe. He is a
Watcher and his main job is making sure that Buffy is trained and
ready to battle with the vampire king himself. Lothos, vampire
king, brings the battle face to face with the slayer during the
senior dance at Buffy's school.
Blade played by Wesley Snipes in the movie Blade is a a vampire
hunter of a different kind. He is himself part vampire. Blades long
time friend Whistler created a serum for Blade that makes it
possible for him to not drink blood. The other vampires refer to
Blade as a day walker as he can walk without harm in the day light.
Whistler spends his time creating weapons that Blade uses to take
out the rogue vampires.
Van Helsing is a popular name in many vampire movies. He originated
from the book Dracula written by Bram Stoker in 1897 as a vampire
hunter. In the movie Dracula's Daughter Van Helsing is introduced
where Dracula left off. Van Helsing is going on trial for the
murder of the Count. Instead of a regular lawyer Van Helsing asks a
psychiatrist, which is actually an old pupil of his, to help. In
the 1992 movie Dracula actor Anthony Hopkins plays the character of
Professor Abraham Van Helsing. In this rendition of Dracula Van
Helsing is not the one to give Dracula his final blow it is Mina.
The moment that Dracula is no more Mina is cured of the vampire
curse.
Reporter Carl Kolchak in The Night Stalker becomes an unwilling
vampire slayer when he gets sucked into a story that the police
don't believe. Carl ends up slaying the vampire but loses his story
in the process as well as his girl.
